14.40 Optimising and troubleshooting the FCC regenerator for reduced emissions
• European Union environmental agencies are implementing ever stricter regulations related to FCC flue gas emissions such as SOx, NOx, CO, and particulates
• FCC flue gas emissions regulations have begun to restrict many refinery operations leading to the use of environmental additives, and in some cases, have led to the installation of expensive hardware modifications thereby substantially increasing operating costs
• Multiple troubleshooting techniques have been developed over the last 68 years which will assist the FCC operator in reducing flue gas emissions
• This paper provides the FCC operator guidelines related to the troubleshooting and reduction of flue gas emissions and their associated costs
INTERCAT

15.10 The sulphur management strategy - meeting the sulphur challenge using leading edge integrated sulphur molecule processing technologies
• The refining industry faces the challenge of dealing with heavier, more sour crude, more stringent SOx and NOx emissions legislations combined with the demand of producing higher quality transportation fuels
• To meet the challenge the refining industry will have to consider how best to optimise their sulphur management strategies
• Hear how refiners can manage their sulphur technology platform by employing hydro-processing, conversion and sulphur recovery facilities
SHELL GLOBAL SOLUTIONS

15.40 Coffee break and opportunity to visit hospitality suites

16.10 Stricter emission control regulations - worsening quality of fuel
• Environmental damage from various industrial and transportation activities is a major cause of concern for world community
• Ship sourced emissions are receiving increased scrutiny from IMO (International Maritime Organisation), governmental and other environmental agencies
• This has led to a plethora of regulations to restrict emissions from ships
• At the same time the marine fuel quality is deteriorating in-spite of international standards to regulate the quality
• What can be done?
VISWA LAB

16.40 FCC regenerator off gas cost effective emissions control
• A new technology - called CONOx - has been developed that introduces reactive oxygen into the FCC regenerator off gas
• CONOx reduces both NOx and CO - with NOx reductions of 60% achievable in most partial burn applications
• Full burn regenerators can be operated at lower excess O2 levels, producing lower NOx while destroying CO
• The low capital cost of CONOx allows its use in combination with other control technologies to achieve a more cost effective overall approach to NOX control
• Regenerator and CO boiler capacity are also effectively increased due to the operating flexibility provided by CONOx
