DAY ONE: Wednesday 24 March
The first day will look at establishing what is involved in PAM (Physical Asset Management), and the understanding of its comprehensive nature.
What is involved in PAM
• What is involved in PAM in 2010? How does it align with safety, reliability
and availability?
• The basic requirements
• Where does it begin – design
• Maintenance avoidance
• Reliability – the basis for PAM
DAY TWO: Thursday 25 March 2010
The aim for the second day is to focus on some major programme elements with an experienced engineer who has driven a sustainable improvement in reliability and Integrity at a complex facility. The session will help delegates understand the content of these programmes and share real experience of implementing them.
Major programme elements
• How to build targeted inspection programs based on consequence and
likelihood of degradation
• How to set up process controls (Safety and Reliability limits) and monitoring
variables to ensure you are aware of how the degradation mechanisms are changing
through plant operation
• Equipment monitoring programs through operations and technician
rounds – keeping on top of the degradation of the equipment
• Prioritizing plant and equipment improvements and defect elimination work
processes to focus effort on improving the plant
DAY THREE: Friday 26 March 2010
The final day will help you look beyond the day to day functions, to see the relationship with process safety from an engineering perspective, and how human factors impact on every activity in the engineering environment. Some effective self assessment techniques for establishing where you are will also be used in exercises so you know what to tackle first on your return to the work place.
Process Safety and Human factors impact on Maintenance
• Process safety and Maintenance relationship
• Why does the HSE have such a focus on human factors
• What do engineers need to know
• Conditions conducive to error
• What needs to be aligned to achieve good refinery maintenance
Assessment techniques for establishing your current position
• You need to know where you are in order to apply the right improvements
• Hands on activity with several assessment techniques for self application back
at your site
