Submit a paper for the ERTC Sustainable Refining Conference

You are invited to submit proposals for papers that address any of the following questions:

  • The achievements to date: How has the refining industry coped so far to meet the current reduction obligations and what improvements have already been delivered in practice? - Discussion of best practices.
  • Gap definition: What remains to be done taking into account demand developments and transport policy measures?
  • Operating solutions within the refinery fence:
    - Will it be possible to achieve the future emission reduction targets by further operational improvements and modest investments in energy efficiency or....
    - is there a need for more “radical solutions”; what could they look like?
    - What are the constraints and how do they vary by location, refinery configuration and product demand profile?
  • Operating solutions outside the refinery fence:
    - What are the options and constraints for “Network” solutions?
    - Is CCS a realistic option for refineries and if so, by when?
  • Product related solutions: How will future product quality and demand developments and the new measures regulating (road-, air- and water-) transport greenhouse gas emission reductions impact the solutions; what role for alternative renewable transport fuels (e.g. hydrogen, electricity)?

At this time we invite abstracts of original papers for both plenary and technical sessions of this conference, which will attract delegates, mainly from Europe, but also from the USA, Middle East and Africa.

GTF have commissioned an expert industry consultant to create the programme for this exciting and important conference.

Acceptance criteria will be originality, innovation and relevance to European oil refining. With your permission, selected papers may be reprinted in Hydrocarbon Processing.

At this stage, the only requirements are a working title, subject area and brief description of the proposed content (approximately 200 words).

In order to meet the conference planning timetable, please respond by Friday 12th December 2008.

Please email your abstracts to olga.korzhova@gtforum.com and copy to peter.tjan@pt-mc.eu
